The Swarm - The exhibition opening

In his welcoming speech Rudolf Scherzer, Vice President of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, talked about the principles of a swarm that can only become an entity thanks to the close interaction and a common destination.
This team spirit was also noticeable throughout the following speeches that have been hold rotationally by Charles Walker, the assistants and the students. From the initial concept to the static system and the parametric design to the material and construction the numerous visitors had a fascinating insight not only into the incurrence of ‘The Swarm’ but also into science and work at the university. The participants’ passion and the professionalism convinced both host and audience.

Among others the company aluform Alucobondverarbeitungs-GmbH offered approx. one week of their production capacity. 3A Composites GmbH has supported the project with sponsoring of the material and an intensive technical guidance until  final completion.

Also, the associated exhibition system designed by Nadine Zinser-Junghanns, which has been specially built for the presentation of “The Swarm”, consists of milled and folded ALUCOBOND®. The exhibition displays the development of the project from the ideas competition right up to the implemented object.
Exhibition and sculpture can be visited until the 4th of May 2012 in the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, Waisenhausstraße 4, Munich:
Monday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:00 hrs and Friday 09:00 – 15:00 hrs.
