What is the product?
With ALUCOBOND® circular, we present our latest innovation: an aluminum composite panel consistently focused on sustainability. Made with 89% recycled aluminum, it embodies the principle of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” Using the mass balance approach, we have significantly increased the recycled content without compromising quality or processability. ALUCOBOND® circular combines the aesthetics of modern facades with resource-saving, forward-thinking production.
What are the benefits?
- Reduction of CO2 emissions: The CO2 emissions of the cover sheets have been reduced by 52% compared to conventional processes.
- Circular economy: Production waste is recycled, the aluminum is remelted, and used for new panels.
- Short transport distances: With transport distances of less than 15 kilometers between the recycling facility and the manufacturer, we further minimize our ecological footprint.
- Environmentally friendly and efficient: The use of secondary aluminum saves fossil resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, without requiring adjustments to existing processing equipment.
- Diversity in design: ALUCOBOND® circular is available in numerous surface and color variants, offering maximum design freedom.
What is the mass balance approach?
The CO2 footprint is calculated using the mass balance approach. In accordance with “European Aluminium” recommendations, we use the cut-off approach for the cradle-to-gate CO2 footprint data. This means that we assess both pre- and post-consumer waste as CO2 neutral.
The use of secondary aluminium provides numerous benefits: greenhouse gas emissions are reduced and fossil resources are conserved, while the quality of the product and its properties remain the same. Our ALUCOBOND® composite panels can be processed as usual with no need to adapt equipment or procedures.
ALUCOBOND® circular is available with both a fire-retardant core (technical details ALUCOBOND® PLUS) and a non-combustible core (technical details ALUCOBOND® A2). The product is subject to the availability of recycled aluminum in quantity.
